King '19 Wins Founders Diving; Hotchkiss To Host Swimming

by Roger Wistar

Olivia King '19 has given the girls swimming and diving team an early boost at the Founders League championships with a convincing diving win Wednesday night.

King put together a stellar final five dives to finish with 407.45 points, easily outpacing the runner-up from Choate by nearly 20 points. Her total also breaks the Hotchkiss girls record of 393.30 previously held by Dana Meadow '02.

Coming into the back half of the event, King was neck and neck with her rivals, but she put together a five-dive sequence that scored a total of 180.95 points, including a tenth dive which scored 41.80 points, to surge past Choate.

Eden Oostenink and Grace Helm also competed at the event, finishing sixth and eighth, respectively. The three divers give Hotchkiss 44 points entering Saturday's swimming events, easily the highest total to begin the day.

Hotchkiss will once again host the Founders League swimming championships on Saturday, with several hundred swimmers from more than a dozen teams competing for the title. The events will begin officially at 11:00 a.m. and will conclude with the traditional 400-yard freestyle relays.

All spectators are invited to attend the event in person, or if that is not possible, to watch a livestream of the day that will begin with the first event.
