Oberto and Davis to Assume New Roles in 2018-19

The Hotchkiss School is pleased to announce two important and exciting changes for the 2018-19 school year, effective July 1.

Paul Oberto has accepted the invitation to serve as the first director of the Engineering, Fabrication and Exploration Laboratory. Reporting to the dean of faculty, Mr. Oberto will be responsible for building and supporting curricular and co-curricular programs for the EFX Lab, and will facilitate the development of cross- and interdisciplinary initiatives to increase the opportunities for students to create and innovate. He has been at Hotchkiss since 2000. Mr. Oberto was head of the Science Department before he was appointed to associate dean of faculty in 2012.

Richard Davis has accepted the position of associate dean of faculty. Appointed in 2006, Mr. Davis has served as department head in the Classical and Modern Languages Department and is currently secretary to the faculty and a duty dean. He earned a Master of Science in Education in 2016 from the University of Pennsylvania, where he focused his research on communication at The Hotchkiss School. Over the last two years Mr. Davis helped lead the effort to revise the Hotchkiss Mission and Values Statements.
