You will be able to schedule meetings with your student's advisors and teachers on Friday afternoon and Saturday throughout the day. If your student is a senior, you will also be able to meet with his or her College Advisor. Appointments are made online via the Pick-A-Time system. You will be sent further instructions on how to schedule your appointments in September.

Absence Request for Parents Weekend (Friday, Oct. 19 - Tuesday, Oct. 23)
Please use the online absence request form if your student is going to leave campus for the Parents Weekend break.

Absence requests must be submitted by Thursday, October 18 at 4:00 p.m.

Follow this link to Parent Portal, then click "My Student's Information" icon and locate Absence request link.

We ask you to verify all aspects of the request. This requires that parents and guardians enter all relevant information. Feel free to call the Deans' Office at (860) 435-3739 or (860) 435-3189 if you need assistance.

Accommodations:
A list of area lodging can be found on our Visit Page. Hotchkiss is located in the northwest corner of Connecticut; lodging in both New York and Massachusetts are options within proximity for consideration. This year will be especially busy as some of the other area schools have the same Parents Weekend, so please book your accommodations as early as possible!

During Parents Weekend

What to Expect during Parents Weekend

Schedule Overview
During the weekend, you will attend classes, meet with teachers, enjoy musical performances, and cheer on the Bearcats on the athletic fields. We hope that this will be a great time for you to get a better sense of community life and get to know your child’s friends and Hotchkiss family.

Dress Code
Parents Weekend is an informal weekend with no specific dress code. Attire generally ranges from business casual to casual wear. We suggest comfortable shoes during the day as you may have some longer walks in between appointments and other scheduled events.

Refreshments – Continental Breakfast and refreshments will be available in the Student Center throughout the day. Please feel free to gather here to meet your student and rest in between appointments.

Lunch and Dinner – A delicious buffet luncheon will be available to everyone in the Dining Room, the Student Center, and a few other places in the Main Building on Friday and Saturday. You are also welcome to join us for dinner on Friday night, but can take your student off campus for dinner should you prefer to do so. All students must be back on campus by 10:30 p.m. on Friday night. If you plan to join us for meals, please register so that we know how many guests to expect.

After Parents Weekend

Announced Holidays – Your student can leave after their last obligation on Saturday. They will have announced holidays on Monday, October 22 and Tuesday, October 23. They must return to campus by 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Return Transportation | Tuesday, October 23
The ONLY transportation that the school will provide for Parents' Weekend and Announced Holiday will be a shuttle from the Wassaic train station on Tuesday, October 23 at 8:11 pm.

  • The Metro North train leaves Grand Central at 6:04 p.m. and arrives Wassaic at 8:11 p.m.
This is the latest train that will allow for return to campus by check-in. You do not need to sign up for this shuttle.

If the option above does not work for you, please go to Travel Arrangements web page for a list of livery services with whom you may make your own, individual arrangements.
