The Hotchkiss Ensembles concert on May 24 highlighted student soloists in jazz and orchestra, featuring graduating seniors and a student conductor: Matthew Yao led the orchestra for a performance of Tsar’s Bride Overture by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Seniors James Herring, Josephine Li, Brian Wong, Shine Peng, Aaron Stone performed Le Carnaval des Animaux by Camille Saint-Saëns, and Hannah Liu sang “O Mio Babbino Caro” from the opera Gianni Schicchi by Puccini.
