The Hotchkiss Chorus will present its annual spring concert, American Dreams: 200 Years of American Choral Music, on Sunday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hotchkiss Chapel on the school’s Lakeville campus.
In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the 35-voice ensemble will perform a diverse program highlighting the richness and breadth of the American choral tradition. The mostly a cappella repertoire draws from folk, gospel, and classical styles, reflecting two centuries of musical expression and cultural history.
The program features works by notable composers and arrangers, including Alice Parker, Moses Hogan, Susan LaBarr, and Morten Lauridsen. Selections range from beloved spirituals such as “Down to the River to Pray” and “Wayfaring Stranger” to Lauridsen’s luminous setting of James Agee’s text, "Sure on This Shining Night".
The all-student ensemble will also showcase featured senior soloists Serena Nam, Ashley Opdyke, and Max Mudry.
The Hotchkiss Chorus is directed by faculty member Jack Brown and is widely recognized for its longstanding tradition of excellence, including its celebrated annual Lessons & Carols services, a hallmark of the school community for more than 66 years.
This event is free and open to the public
