Threaded Together: Alumnae Artists Share a Moment opens Sept. 4 in Tremaine Art Gallery, one of a host of events and programs honoring Hotchkiss's 50th anniversary of women and girls at Hotchkiss.

Please join us for the exhibit's formal opening on Sept. 12 from 4-6 p.m., coinciding with the return of pioneering alumnae who came to campus in the fall of 1974. The brainchild of the Women of Hotchkiss Steering Committee, the exhibit was curated by Joan Baldwin, curator of Special Collections, with Terri Moore, program director of Studio Art. The two solicited 49 working alumnae artists, ultimately selecting work from 20 women from the classes of 1977 to 2019. The 39 pieces include sculpture, collage, painting, and prints.

The title came from an email sent by Ami Mehta '98. When her piece was accepted, Mehta wrote, "it will be so interesting to juxtapose what has to be drastically different kinds of work, threaded together with the thin but mighty thread of our shared moment in time!" 

Baldwin added, "It's a beautiful show, where each piece informs and energizes the next, creating an awesome whole."

The Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. Begin your year with art in Tremaine!
