The Tremaine Art Gallery is pleased to present an exhibit featuring photographs by Theo Coulombe, an artist and photographer whose recent work features a series of emotive regional landscapes. Your View is My View: Landscapes and Collaborations is open through Dec. 18 to the on-campus community only.

Collaboration is an indispensable vehicle for artistic discovery. Inspired by this, Your View is My View features Coulombe’s collaborative works with contemporary artists of diverse backgrounds and media: On The Road, with Shantell Martin and Laksmi Hedemark, Which Bridges to Cross and Which to Burn, performative portraits of the artists Ayana Evans and Tsedaye Mackonan, and Signal Corps, fictional narratives in history, with Alan Krathaus.

“Theo’s work evokes the romanticism of Hudson River School with his ethereal atmospheres and painterly large format prints,'' said Terri Moore, Tremaine Art Gallery director. “Working with Theo is an honor and absolute delight.  We look forward to sharing this work with our students and community.”

A former Maine park ranger, photographer, artist, and gallery owner, Theo Coulombe has worked across a number of fields including carpentry, medical photography, artist assistant, luxury photography, exhibition design and curation. Coulombe’s fine art photography has been exhibited at the Imperial War Museum, Parrish Art Museum, Tang Teaching Museum, Aldrich Museum, and New Britain Museum of American Art. His works have also been featured in a number of prestigious publications, including Architectural Digest, COOL HUNTING, and Dezeen

In 2017 he founded Standard Space Gallery in Sharon, CT, which focuses on collaboration with curators who champion emerging and mid-career artists and on amplifying the voices—both curatorial and artistic—of underrepresented groups in the art world. The gallery received an NEH grant in 2020 for the curatorial projects ART in PLACE curated by himself and PROJECTIONS, curated by associate director, Camille Roccanova.
