The Hotchkiss School is pleased to announce Lily Rabe ’00 as the 2023 Commencement speaker. Since her time in Lakeville, Rabe has paved her own path as a highly acclaimed and versatile actress in television, film, and theater. 

Rabe starred in nine seasons of Ryan Murphy’s award-winning anthology series American Horror Story on FX. Other recent TV credits include HBO’s hit limited series The Undoing opposite Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant; the Showtime series The First Lady with Gillian Anderson; Tell Me Your Secrets alongside Hamish Linklater and Amy Brenneman; and The Underground Railroad miniseries for Amazon Studios.

On the feature front, Rabe most recently starred as the female lead opposite Ben Affleck in George Clooney’s critically acclaimed The Tender Bar.

Onstage, her Broadway credits include The Merchant of Venice, for which she received Tony, Drama Desk and Drama League nominations. Other theatre credits include As You Like It, Much Ado About Nothing, Cymbeline, and A Doll’s House, among many others.

Next up, Rabe will star in Love and Death, a new limited series for HBO Max created by David E. Kelley. She will soon be seen alongside Ruth Negga and Jake Gyllenhaal in Presumed Innocent on Apple TV+ and can currently be seen opposite Harrison Ford in the new Apple TV+ series Shrinking. She just wrapped her co-directorial debut Downtown Owl, in which she also stars with Ed Harris, Vanessa Hudgens, Henry Golding, and Finn Wittrock. 

Rabe lives in Los Angeles with her partner, Hamish Linklater, their three children, and her stepdaughter. She is thrilled to come back to Hotchkiss and participate in the celebrations for the Class of 2023.
