The School’s annual Family Weekend held Oct.10-12 drew more than 1,000 family members to campus for an opportunity to meet with instructors, visit classes, and gain a better understanding of life at Hotchkiss. The weekend kicked off Thursday evening with a reception in the Mars Athletic Center. The following morning Head of School Craig Bradley addressed family members in Elfers before they joined students in attending classes. In the afternoon and evening, they enjoyed students performance in Elfers, attended sports events, and learned about travel programs. Students of color joined their families for a special dinner in the student lounge and international families gathered for tea in Harris House. In Walker, parents listened to a presentation on the Class of 2020 Senior Parents Gift to improve and renovate the auditorium, which was built in 1967. New to the the weekend this year was a dormitory feed held Friday evening, which gave families members a chance to experience life in the dormitory common spaces, and meet dormitory faculty. In addition, the event’s name was changed from “Parents’ Weekend” to “Family Weekend” to reflect Hotchkiss’s more inclusive and diverse community.
