Hotchkiss Students Travel the World

In June, humanities students traveled with Instructor in Philosophy and Religion Sam King and Instructor in English Marcus Christian to India and Sri Lanka, where they learned about and participated in Hindu and Buddhist rituals. They visited the Sri Lanka International Buddhist Academy and The Temple of the Tooth Relic of the Buddha, a sacred pilgrimage site that houses what is believed to be a tooth fragment from Siddhartha Gautama Buddha. Along the way, they observed a snake charmer and visited an elephant sanctuary. Read more about their experience here:

Spanish instructors Ana Hermoso and Carmen Dockery Perkins and Dave Thompson, director of international programs, traveled with students to Cartagena and Bogotá, Colombia. Among other activities, they visited Squash Urbano, a squash program for underprivileged youth, took salsa dance lessons, visited a Spanish Fort, and dined at a prison restaurant, where inmates prepare and serve meals as part of a training program to prepare them for life after incarceration.

Members of the girls and boys cross country teams traveled to Kenya for a running camp organized by Pierre Yoo, chemistry instructor and boys cross country coach, and Michelle Repass, English instructor and girls cross country coach. View photos here:
