The weather was sunny and chilly for Hotchkiss’s annual Taft Day rivalry showdown, which was held in Lakeville this year on Nov. 11. Bearcats roared to a 9-5-2 victory as the loud and proud Blue Mob cheered for our field hockey, volleyball, girls soccer, boys soccer, and football teams against the Rhinos.
The Boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Loomis Chaffee on Taft Day to compete in the New England Division 1 Championships. Boys varsity/JV and girls varsity defeated the Rhinos on the road to add to Hotchkiss’s winning tally.
Congratulations to all Bearcats for your impressive teamwork and School spirit! GO BLUE!

Bearcats Win Hotchkiss-Taft Challenge; Preps Win Spirit Week Challenge
Young alumni and parents joined in on the Spirit Week fun with two challenges. Members of the Classes of 2010-23 won the Hotchkiss-Taft Challenge and brought the crown back to Lakeville by making the most gifts to The Hotchkiss Fund. Many young alumni joined us for Hotchkiss-Taft Challenge kickoff parties in Washington, D.C., Boston, and New York City. The Class of 2027 won the Spirit Week Challenge and will receive a special treat or celebration thanks to the donations of parents and families to The Hotchkiss Parents Fund. Thank you to everyone for who participated for your generous support to the School.
Theatre and Art Add to Taft Day Festivities
Taft Day attendees also enjoyed a fantastic performance of the Hotchkiss Dramatic Association's production of Little Shop of Horrors and stopped by the Tremaine Art Gallery for photographer Lisa Elmaleh's exhibition Promised Land // Tierra Prometida.
Class of 2023 Returns to Campus
Members of the Class of 2023 returned to Hotchkiss to cheer for the Bearcats during Taft Day, and they made a surprise visit to Maggie Crain, their beloved class dean.
