McKibben Appointed Interim Dean of Community Life for 2019-20

Steve McKibben, Hotchkiss's Interim Dean of Community Life in 2019-20The Hotchkiss School is pleased to announce that Steve McKibben has agreed to serve as interim dean of community life for the 2019-20 academic year, effective July 1.

Steve is well positioned for this role in the Deans' Office during this transitional period. He currently teaches in the English Department, coaches boys varsity basketball and lacrosse, and is dean of the Hotchkiss Summer Portals program. Prior to joining Hotchkiss in 2011, Steve has served students in a variety of educational communities--public schools, college, independent boarding schools, and independent day schools--and in a variety of capacities ranging from teacher to advisor to coach to consultant to head of school. He has been guided by the values of safety, trust, and respect. I have no doubt that his professional experience coupled with his knowledge of and dedication to Hotchkiss will enable his success as interim dean of community life. Steve believes that it is "...through education that our students will learn the values and skills that will enable them to change the world they inherit" and that teachers must be aware of their "moral responsibility to provide all students with the best education possible to ensure the best possible future." Steve is known for his ability to collaborate with others, his thoughtful approach to innovation of education, and his deep commitment to the well-being of our students.

We appreciate Steve's willingness to take on this interim position, and we hope you will welcome him in his new role.
