Hotchkiss is delighted to announce that Daymyen Layne will join the School as the director of diversity, equity, and inclusion on July 1, 2023. Reporting to Head of School Craig W. Bradley, he will work closely with the DEI team and the Hotchkiss community to promote institutional equity and inclusion across the School.
Layne is an experienced leader with a proven track record of creating and implementing successful strategic initiatives in higher education. He has more than 20 years of experience in developing and delivering DEI programs, workshops, and trainings that promote cultural awareness, cross-cultural interaction, and an inclusive and welcoming environment.
He comes to Hotchkiss most recently from Quinnipiac University, where he has been the director for multicultural education and training since 2019. In this role, he implemented a vision and strategic plan of inclusive excellence for students, faculty, and staff. With previous experience in student affairs that includes roles such as director of residential education at the University of Arizona and assistant director of housing at Salem State University, as well as property manager of graduate housing at Boston College, he has emphasized the convergence of student development with diversity, equity, and inclusion. Layne holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Hartwick College, a master’s in higher education from Salem State University, and a master’s in business administration from Quinnipiac University.
Kinyette Henderson and Dr. Lisanne Norman ’94 are thanked for their invaluable contributions to the community as co-directors of diversity, equity, and inclusion this year. Supported by their leadership, the DEI team continues to achieve meaningful progress in Hotchkiss’s continual journey toward equity and inclusion for all.
