Remy Lee ’26 has been chosen as one of 45 semifinalists for the National Student Poets Program, the nation’s highest honor for young poets creating original work.
Remy earned his national semifinalist nomination for a poem he submitted to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, which won a Gold Key. To put Remy’s accomplishment into context, more than 35,000 works of poetry were initially submitted to the Awards, and more than 2,000 submissions earned Gold Keys qualifying them for national judging.
"It is very endearing to see my passion for poetry receive recognition on such a national scale! It feels a little unreal, too, to see how my humble late-night hobby of jotting down poems in my diary has transformed to yield works that are celebrated with such great honor," Remy said. The National Student Poets Program is a partnership between the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.
